Class Goals
12 months: We strive to make the child’s first experience in the classroom a positive one. Our loving staff offers a wide variety of tactile, visual, and auditory experiences to each child. They start to learn to follow directions and to listen to the teacher.
2 years: During the year, the children move from parallel play to group play, sharing and discovering new skills through hands-on experiences in art, music and physical activities. Learning how to listen and learn are natural by-products of these activities.
3 years: Our goal is to create a loving and positive atmosphere for every child. Our hope is to develop his/her self-confidence while introducing new skills such as colors, shapes, letters, cutting and gluing skills, while remembering to make learning fun. All activities are creative and child-centered. Having been potty-trained is required for this age class.
4 years (Pre-K): We strive to help each child develop a positive self image and a respect for others. We expose our children to developmentally appropriate readiness skills, such as pre-reading, reading, writing, math, science, and many different kinds of sensory experiences. Our goal is to help them become socially, emotionally and physically secure with their abilities to begin Kindergarten.
Stepping Stones School Activities:
Chapel Wednesday morning with the children’s director leading songs and prayer.
Music Mondays and Thursdays with the Music teacher, learning new songs, using rhythm instruments and creative movement.
P.E. Tuesdays and Fridays with the P.E. teacher, using games and songs to develop large motor skills.
Computer Lab for the 4 year olds on Wednesday will teach the children basic computer skills.
Center Time in each classroom there are numerous learning centers, art, puzzles, blocks, etc. Children are encouraged to use a variety of centers daily.
Snack Time – A snack is served daily.
Curriculum – We use High Reach Learning for all students.
Teachers – Our staff is warm, loving, and experienced. Each teacher takes 24 hours of continuing education each year and is CPR and First Aid trained.
