Christmas 2017

Sunday, December 3rd-December 24th
Advent Sermon Series:

It’s time to stop crying in our soup about the consumeristic commercialism of Christmas. Instead of bashing the culture for making Black Friday bigger than Thanksgiving, let’s do something different this year. Rather than quibbling over saying “Happy Holidays” instead of “Merry Christmas,” let’s recover what it means to celebrate Holy Days. Let’s joyfully embrace the fact that we will do Advent in the midst of a culture that loves Christmas but doesn’t really understand the true meaning of it. When the church reclaims Advent, our American culture will behold Christmas.
Time: All worship services in December

It’s time to order poinsettias for Christmas. Order forms can be found in the church office or outside each worship area. Poinsettias are $10. If you would like to order online, please follow the link below:

Nativity Presentation

Our children will experience the special moment of receiving one ceramic nativity piece, symbolizing that first manger scene. The United Methodist Women Friendship Circle began this tradition many years ago, enabling St. Mark’s children to have the entire nativity scene upon completion of their early Christian education. A special gift of a ceramic star ornament will be given to guest children.
Time: All worship services

The Adult Chancel Choir presents: “Peace Has Come”
Mary and Joseph were initially troubled, but eventually found peace. Shepherds on a hillside were trembling with fear, but were told to “fear not.” In “Peace Has Come,” we follow the journey of those who experienced that first Christmas night . . . and found peace in a new and fresh way. In the process, the listener is challenged to lay aside those illusions that promise peace, and embrace the Giver of true peace and abundant life, Jesus Christ.
Time: 4:00pm in the Sanctuary

Christmas Treats

Bring your favorite Christmas treats to share as we enjoy a time of fellowship and fun in between our Christmas Cantata and Children’s Program. We’ll make sure there is plenty coffee, hot chocolate, and wassail!

The Children’s Ministry Presents:“Keepsake Christmas”

Christmas is all about memories, family and friends, love and Jesus! Bring your family for a fun night of making memories and remembering your family traditions. You will hear from Mary, Joseph, and an angel how the amazing events unfolded on that first Christmas. Plus each family will create their very own keepsake nativity scene to cherish for years to come. Take this evening to help in teaching your family about the true spirit of Christmas.
